Elizabeth de Freitas is a Professor at the Education and Social Research Institute at Manchester Metropolitan University. She holds a Ph.D. in Education and M.A. in the History and Philosophy of Mathematics from the University of Toronto, and a B.A. in mathematics from McGill University. Her research has been funded by the Canada Arts Council, the Toronto Arts Council, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council in Canada, the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Education, and the European Union Erasmus Plus Programme. Her research focuses on anthropological and philosophical investigations of mathematics, science and technology, pursuing the implications and applications of this work across the social sciences and humanities. She has published five books and over 50 chapters and articles on a range of topics.
